على خلاف الكثير من الأوروبيين الذين تأثرت حياتهم بدرجات الحرارة المنخفضة وتساقط الثلوج، قرر أعضاء من جمعية السباحة الجليدية في ألمانيا الاستمتاع بالجو المناسب لممارسة رياضتهم.

في الصين، والتي وجه إليها البابا بنديكتوس السادس عشر انتقادا شديدا بسبب ما اعتبره تضييقا على المسيحيين من أتباع الكنيسة الكاثوليكية، أقيمت احتفالات بعيد الميلاد هذا العام، ولكن بأسلوب وشكل مميزين.

احتفل مسيحيو الكاثوليك في السودان ومعظمهم من سكان الجنوب بأعياد الميلاد التي حضرها هذا العام عدد قلً بكثير عن الأعوام السابقة بسبب مغادرة عدد كبير منهم إلى الجنوب للتصويت في استفتاء التاسع من يناير المقبل.

تعرض الساحل الشرقي للولايات المتحدة لعواصف ثلجية قوية أصابت الكثير من مظاهر الحياة في عدد من الولايات بالشلل.

وأعلنت حالة الطوارئ في الكثير من الولايات الشرقية مع توقعات بوصول سمك الثلوج إلى أكثر من أربعين سنتيمترا وهبوب رياح تزيد سرعتها عن الخمسين كيلومترا في الساعة.

قرر الجهاز القومي لتنظيم الإتصالات في مصر فرض ضوابط جديدة للرقابة على خدمة رسائل المحمول الدعائية والإخبارية التى ترسلها عدد من الشركات الى المتلقين من مستخدمي اجهزة الهاتف المحمول. وتقول مراسلتنا في القاهرة عزة محيي الدين إنه بموجب هذا القرار سيتوجب على أي مؤسسة اعلامية الحصول على موافقة من وزارة الإعلام والمجلس الأعلى للصحافة لإرسال مثل هذة الرسائل. وقد تلقت مؤسسات إعلامية بالفعل إخطارات بالتعليمات الجديدة. وذكرت صحيفة المصري اليوم المستقلة أن الجهاز القومي للاتصالات اكد على ضرورة الحصول على الموافقات المطلوبة لضمان استمرار الخدمة. وقال مسؤولون حكوميون ان القرار يهدف إلى "الحد من ترويج افكار تهدف إلى إثارة الفتنة الطائفية والتلاعب بالبورصة".

أدلى طارق عزيز، أحد أكثر الموالين لصدام حسين، أول حديث صحفي له منذ إلقاء القبض عليه وسجنه بعد سقوط بغداد قبل أكثر من سبع سنوات.

وفي حديثه مع صحيفة "الجارديان" البريطانية حذر طارق عزيز من خطورة سحب القوات الامريكية من العراق.

وقال إن خطة الرئيس الأمريكي باراك أوباما الرامية إلى سحب القوات الامريكية المقاتلة من العراق ترقى إلى - حسب تعبيره - ترك العراق للذئاب.

وقال في هذه المقابلة التي أجريت معه في زنزانته في بغداد، ان الولايات المتحدة وبريطانيا "قتلتا بلدنا. عندما ترتكبون خطأ يجب ان تصححوا هذا الخطأ وعدم ترك العراق يموت".

واضاف "عندما انتخب اوباما رئيسا اعتقدت انه سيصحح اخطاء سلفه. ولكن اوباما مخادع. ترك العراق لمصيره".

واعتبر عزيز ان العراق هو في وضع اسوأ مما كان عليه قبل الغزو الأمريكي.

اعلنت حكومة حركة حماس المقالة في قطاع غزة يوم الاحد منع النساء من تدخين الشيشة في الاماكن العامة.

وقال ايهاب الحسين الناطق باسم وزير الداخلية في حكومة حماس المقالة ان "الشرطة اتخذت هذا القرار لانه لا يتماشى مع العادات والتقاليد الاجتماعية".

وقال بعض مالكي ومديري المقاهي المنتشرة على شاطئ غزة لوكالة الانباء الفرنسية انهم "فوجئوا خلال الايام الاخيرة بقرار الشرطة منعهم من تقديم الشيشة للزبائن، وبعد ايام، اتضح ان هذا المنع هو على تقديم الشيشة للنساء والقاصرين".

قالت وسائل اعلام سورية محلية نقلا عن مصادر موثوقة ومقربة من وزارة التعليم العالي ان وزير التعليم العالي السوري غياث بركات اعطى توجيهات تقضي بمنع دخول الطالبات المنقبات الى حرم الجامعات السورية.

وبرر الوزير السوري هذا الاجراء بتعارض النقاب مع القيم والتقاليد الجامعية.

وذكرت المصادر ان هذا الامر جرت مناقشته بين الوزير ورؤساء الجامعات الخاصة يوم الاربعاء الماضي.

وشدد الوزير على عدم ترك الطلاب عرضة لافكار وعادات متطرفة.

ولم يتم التأكد من جهات حكومية من دقة هذه المعلومات بشكل رسمي.

عرضت بي بي سي العربية مساء يوم الاربعاء فلم وثائقيا حول صخرة القدس التي يرى بعض المحللين السياسين أن هذه البقعة الصغيرة حيث الصخرة هي مركز الصراع العربي الاسرائيلي فهي بالنسبة للاسرائيلين هويتهم الدينية والوطنية وعليها بنيت الفكرة الصهيونية بالعودة إلى ارض اسرائيل حيث كان الهيكل وارض الاجداد. من جانب اخر العربي المسلم الذي لا يقبل بمشاركة المكان حتى وان كان من رجال السلام والمفاوضات كما أكد ياسر عرفات الزعيم الفلسطيني.
